Interesting Facts of MCKinney, TX

  • Downtown McKinney is one of the oldest authentic downtowns in Texas. Here you will find a splendid lineup of retail shops, restaurants and theatres, as well as 1,400 historic buildings with stories to discover that tell a plain tale of the good ol’ days. 
  • In 1849, William Davis owned 3,000 acres of land in which McKinney is situated upon. He donated land for the townsfolk to revitalize and come together, for which 120 acres were donated, and in 1913, the town became a commission form of government. For 125 years, it has served as the economic center of the county.
  • McKinney is a dynamic, diverse community, and fastest growing city in America. Since 1990, the city has grown from 21,283 to 195,342 residents in 2020.
  • Tournament Players Club of Craig Ranch is a premier golf course located in McKinney, TX.  The TPC was ranked 13th Best Golf Course in Texas by the Dallas Morning News in 2007 and has hosted the Nationwide Tour in 2008.
  • McKinney was mostly known for cotton crops and fabric manufacturing in the old McKinney Cotton Mill.  It was closed in the 1970s however it was renovated in the late 1990s for office and retail space.
